Elise Ruggeri Abonnat received a LL.M degree from the University of Virginia following her admission to the French Bar in 2009. She has extensive experience in International Law and worked as a research assistant for the office of legal affairs of the United Nations Headquarters. She wrote her Master thesis on the legal status of climate refugees and protection of persons under natural disasters and conducted research on adaptation policies. She is a member of the Center of Research of International Law at the University of Paris Ouest La Defense (Paris X) and is writing her PHD on natural resources management and States' responsibility.
